Effects of Emotion-Focused Therapy on Meta-Emotion, Mindfulness and Affect Capital in Women with Multiple Sclerosis in Isfahan

Abstract
Introduction: This research was carried out with the aim of the effectiveness of emotion-focused therapy on meta-emotion, mindfulness and affect capital of women with Multiple Sclerosis in Isfahan.
Method: The research design was semi-experimental with a pre-test-post-test design with a control group. The statistical population of the research included women with multiple sclerosis referred to Shariati hospital in Isfahan city in 2023. Using the purposeful sampling method, 30 women with multiple sclerosis who were willing to cooperate were selected based on the criteria for entering the research and were randomly assigned to the experimental and control groups (15 people in each group). The data were collected with Mitmansgruber's meta-emotion questionnaires (2009), Baer's five-facets of mindfulness (2006) and Golparvar's affect capital (2015). The emotion-focused therapy method based on the protocol of Greenberg and Goldman (2019) was performed on the experimental group in 12 sessions for 60 minutes. Data were analyzed using multivariate analysis of covariance and SPSS 24 software.
Results: The results showed that emotion-focused therapy was significantly effective on meta-emotion, mindfulness, and affect capital in the experimental group compared to the control group (p<0.001). Also, the results indicated the effectiveness of emotion-focused therapy on the components of meta-emotion, mindfulness and affect capital (p<0.001).
Conclusion: The present study showed that emotion-focused therapy is effective in improving positive meta-emotion, mindfulness and affect capital in Isfahan multiple sclerosis. Therefore, it is suggested to use this approach to increase positive meta-emotion, mindfulness and affect capital.
