Background: Pain is an unpleasant sensation associated with actual or potential injury. Pain makes people aware of damage and can affect the quality of personal and social life, also pain is a constant companion for humans. So, people are always looking for ways to reduce pain and make it bearable. Considering the importance of pain management and the physical, psychological, and social effects it can have on people, the present study analyzes the Canonical Correlation of pain coping strategies based on anxiety sensitivity and attention control in people.
Method: The present study is a descriptive-correlational study and the statistical population of the research included the students of Tabriz University in 1402, 176 people were selected as a sample using the available sampling method, and in order to collect data from Reiss and Peterson anxiety sensitivity Index (ASI), Rosenstiel, & Kefe's pain coping strategies (CSQ) and DerryBerry& Reed 's attention control Scale(ACS) were used. Data were analyzed using Pearson and canonical correlation with spss26 software.
Results: The results of canonical analysis of a significant group between coping strategies with anxiety sensitivity and attention control showed that r=0.37. The correlation square is equal to 0.13, which shows that by controlling attention and anxiety sensitivity, they predict 13% of strategies to coping with pain.
Conclusion: Therefore, the findings indicate that pain coping strategies depend on control of attention and anxiety sensitivity and it is necessary to pay attention to the anxiety sensitivity and attention control of people in the interpretation of pain coping strategies.
