Objective: This study examined the effectiveness of ReAttach Therapy on love schemas among female university students with insecure attachment styles. Love schemas, shaped by early attachment experiences, influence expectations, emotions, and behaviors in romantic relationships.
Method:A quasi-experimental pretest–posttest design with a control group was used. Thirty female students with insecure attachment were selected through convenience sampling and randomly assigned to experimental (n = 15) and control (n = 15) groups. The experimental group received 10 sessions of ReAttach Therapy. Data were collected using the Collins and Read Adult Attachment Scale (1990) and the Love Schema Questionnaire by Mehrabi and Yarmohammadi (2019). Analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) was conducted using SPSS version 27.
Results: ReAttach Therapy significantly affected love schemas in students with insecure attachment (p < .05). Scores on clingy, avoidant, and unstable love schemas decreased significantly, while scores on secure love schema increased. No significant change was found in indifferent and game-playing schemas.
Conclusion:ReAttach Therapy appears to be an effective short-term intervention for modifying maladaptive love schemas in individuals with insecure attachment. By restructuring cognitive and emotional patterns, it can enhance healthier expectations, improve relational functioning, and support the development of more stable and satisfying romantic relationships.
